For the mp3eme group:
SONG FROM YOUR FIRST CONCERT
Post a song from the band/artist that played the first concert you ever attended.
It could be your first real concert as an young adult/adult or one your parent(s) dragged you to ...whatever you consider to be your first.
The more background info...the more interesting. (Date? Location? Seating?Did it suck? Rock? Don't Remember?)
If you don't have a tune from the actual album said concert was promoting...you can post a favorite song from the band/artist.
Time to 'fess up!
I believe that my parents and I went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and saw Hank Williams, Jr. when I was a kid, but since I have a vague memory of it at best - and that's really of someone driving out in the Astrodome floor in a truck which could have been anyone - I'm going to go with the one that I remember the best and liked the most.
When I was in middle school, my best friend Rebecca and her family went to the now closed down AstroWorld every summer a lot and I would get added to their season passes as another family member. AstroWorld had the Southern Star Amphitheater which had big name bands come through and season pass members got to go to the concert for free. The best shows I saw there Will to Power, The Escape Club, and, my absolute favorite of all, Information Society.
To this day I am a huge InSoc fan. I saw them twice - once for the Information Society tour and once for the HACK tour. I still, to this day, have the HACK concert t-shirt, but since it's really thin cotton and stretches pretty tight across my substantial boobage, it doesn't get worn very often.
The first show, I think they opened for The Escape Club and I remember the lead singer Kurt Larson/Valaquen/Harland running around barefoot. It was just electric how they played and I ate it up at all of my fourteen or so years of age. I didn't even know that "Lay All Your Love On Me" was a cover or who ABBA even was. The next time I saw them, Kurt was on roller skates and the concert was just as awesome.
HACK still remains one of my absolute favorite albums, one where I love every track for different reasons. The Beastie Boys sample alone on one track is enough to fall in love with it. Plus, it was very computer/geek driven back when most people wouldn't even have known what a modem was.
I'm pretty sure that there was a Tiffany/New Kids on The Block concert that might have been before this, but InSoc is way cooler, so we're going with them since that might be music someone might actually enjoy. Since I love the band so much, I'm including several tracks from both albums.
